I haven’t yet felt the urge to knit socks. Not just because I just learned how to knit, despite having spent the last four months knitting. I can appreciate the technical challenge posed by socks, but I have two issues to overcome:

1. You have to knit two of them. Once you finish your first sock, OH NO YOU’RE NOT DONE! Get in there and do the exact same thing over again! Frankly, I don’t know if I have what it takes to start back at the first line of the pattern and do it all over again. If I could find an excuse for making just one sock (art project?) I probably would.

2. I have a fundamental complete lack of respect for socks. I buy my socks in giant sacks from Costco. I have like three dozen pairs of the exact same sock: white, cotton blend, ankle length. I wear sneakers and baggy jeans to work, so even if I did make a wicked fancy pair of socks, no one would either see them, or care. What would I do with them?

Some day. Some day.
