Cat With Shoe, For Size Comparison

I might get around to making some actual art later today. For now, I’m engrossed in playing with my digital camera, which my friend Robert fixed for me last night.

Here’s a picture of one of my cats, lying beside a shoe for size comparison. They are large cats.

Note the tilt of the ears. He’s sulking, because right before I took this picture, I kicked him off my desk, where he had been crying, purring, drooling, and shedding all over everything, in an attempt to win my affections. Enough, cat!

That’s Brady. See how the side of his face (your left, his right) is kind of smashed? I woke him up from a sound sleep when I sat down on the couch beside him to take this picture. I’m kind of mean that way.

This is the look that I get if I spend too much time on the computer, and not enough time petting cats.

This week I have been turning my creative energies to knitting. Specifically, to knitting Jayne Cobb’s silly hat from that one episode of Firefly. (You know the one I mean!) And naturally, I am offering it for sale on eBay.

If you want one, maybe you want to wait for the next one I make. I will try to make as many as possible for the month of September (leading up to the premiere), and most likely the next hat will NOT be stitched crooked. :)

Admiral Way

This is a big one! I decided not to resize it, because then it looks like crap. This is the full-size scan of a 9 x 12 sheet of paper.

I think this is the best painting I’ve done so far. It is free of any glaring technical errors, although I think the tree on the far right could have been a little darker. No major gaffes with the drawing or painting process, everything is where it should be, the colors look right… all in all, I’m pretty happy with this one!

This is Admiral Way, in West Seattle. When you’re driving down to Alki Beach via this route, at one particular point the road sweeps down a hill and around a corner, and this is what you see. This viewpoint faces directly west, which makes for some spectacular sunset images. When I lived over on Alki, I drove this street every day, and this view always made me happy.

I like this painting so much, I’ve decided it’s worthy of being sold!
